Without doubt one of have the best releases my label has been involved in. Some of the catchiest punk/ pop tunes out there. As much as I love Shang-A-Lang (Chris's old band), this is next level shit.
Fun Fact: I once listened to Travel Song over and over on a 7 hr flight from Atlanta to Paris
Summer starts here.
Split label release between Drunken Sailor Records, Rad Girlfriend Records, Dead Broke and Dirt Cult.
"In late 2011, when it was clear that Shang-A-Lang was ending because Andy was moving to Idaho and Total Jock (a short lived hardcore project) was over done because James made a quick decision to move to Albuquerque, I asked Cade and Sam (of Total Jock) if they wanted to start a new band. We practiced a few times as a three-piece and recorded a 4-song demo. A few weeks later Joe (Marked Men/Shang-A-Lang) announced that he was moving back to Las Cruces. The first day he was back, we went for beers before practice and I asked if he wanted to join the band. We showed up unannounced, Joe plugged in, learned some songs, and then I asked Cade and Sam if he could join the band. That’s kind of backwards I know, but it worked out. Low Culture’s first show in early November 2011 was at Shang-A-Lang’s last show. Circle of life…
Low Culture plays catchy garage punk that while not far removed from half of the band’s previous project, Shang-A-Lang, has a lot less emphasis on riffs and blown out recordings, and more emphasis on melody and crisp (while not necessarily “over-produced”) recordings. 4-songs, no download code but you can download it for pay what you will on any of the label’s Bandcamp sites." THIS IS THE REPRESS, DIFFERENT COVER. SAME SONGS. STILL AWESOME.
